what we do
We deal with all aspects of landlord and tenant law including the buying and selling of leasehold premises, the preparation of leases for letting, leases for commercial premises and, where necessary, issuing and pursuing of court proceedings, eg. for non-payment of rent and possession.
More and more blocks of flats have been built on the Island in recent years for residential use. The ownership of the flats is leasehold. Often the tenants will acquire an interest in the freehold if it has been transferred into the ownership of a management company. Leases are often lengthy documents and can appear complicated. It is important to check carefully to ensure that all the terms are clearly defined and are fair and reasonable. Careful thorough advice is given in as clear and straight-forward a manner as possible.
Leases over 21 years must be registered in the Land Registry and conveyancing procedures apply.
